Ophiopogon japonicus ‘Minor‘ - Dwarf Lilyturf

General:
The dwarf lilyturf is native to China, India, Japan and Vietnam. It is an evergreen, perennial shrub and usually forms a dense, carpet-like cushion due to its lateral runners. The leaves are very narrow and grass-like. The plants bloom white in July / August and then form attractive blue to purple colored berries. The dwarf lilyturf is somewhat sensitive to frost in unprotected locations.

Use:
In Japan, dwarf lilyturf is often used as a decorative underplanting of trees. It is particularly common in Japanese gardens. But it can also be presented as Shitakusa or Kusamono. In addition, the dwarf lilyturf is also very suitable for landscape planting and sets its own accents in addition to the bonsai.

Special features of the species:
The dwarf form 'Minor' has significantly shorter leaves than the species and thus appears a bit more delicate.
