Polystichum tsus-simense - Tsushima shield fern

General:
The Tsushima shield fern is native to China, Korea and Japan. It has dark green pinnate leaves and grows up to 40 cm tall in the garden. The strong black veins on the leaf blades give the Tsushima shield fern a particularly elegant appearance. The plant prefers a semi-shady location and an acidic, humusy, moist but not waterlogged substrate. The dwarf gold scale fern is frost hardy. With good rooting, the fern should be repotted every year.

Use:
The Tsushima shield fern can be planted in a ceramic bowl to present it as a kusamono or shitakusa. It is also very suitable as an additional planting in woodland or rock arrangements.
