General: Hostas originally come from Japan, Korea, China and Russia. The perennials have many dense, basal leaves and isolated racemose inflorescences. In addition, the plants reproduce superficially through rhizomes. The leaves die off after the growing season, only to be rubbed out again the following year. Today, several thousand species have emerged from the wild species that find their place in ornamental gardens.
Special features of the variety: The small Funkia ‘Blue Cadet‘ has bluish, pointed leaves after budding, which turn increasingly green over the course of summer. The variety is vigorous and richly flowering and is very suitable as a side plant at a bonsai exhibition and as a decorative accent plant within the private bonsai collection.
