Prunus x cistena - Purple Leaf Sand Cherry

General:
The purple leaf sand cherry is a cross between Prunus cerasifera and Prunus pumila. The result is a slow-growing dwarf shrub with dark purple leaves and numerous pale pink flowers in May.

Care as a bonsai:
With its dark leaves and beautiful flowers, the purple leaf sand cherry enriches every bonsai collection. The plant should be trimmed back regularly to allow good branching to form. A sunny location is ideal for leaf color and flower development. Avoid drought and waterlogging, and in winter the plant is best protected from excessively low temperatures and dry air.
