Syringa meyeri ‘Palibin‘ - Dwarf Lilac 'Palibin'

General:
The dwarf lilac has its natural occurrence in northern China. It grows here as a compact but graceful small shrub with a size and width of up to 2 meters. The small leaves are deciduous, elliptical-egg-shaped, with a wavy edge and turn green-violet in autumn. The light purple flowers appear in abundance in May / June and give off an intense and pleasant scent. A second bloom often forms in late summer.

 Care as a bonsai:
Due to the beautiful, fragrant flowers and the small leaves, this lilac species is particularly worthwhile for bonsai culture. The plants are pruning compatible and robust. Lilacs can be sunny and partially shaded. If it is very hot, ensure that there is sufficient watering. However, waterlogging leads to root rot. They should be protected in winter.

Special features of the variety:
The 'Palibin' variety grows more compact and branched compared to the species. The flowers are more numerous, the buds purple-red and when opened, whitish pink. Young plants can also bloom.
