Copper wire is very popular for pine, juniper and other conifers. Compared to aluminum wire, relatively smaller wire diameters can be used and this brings particular aesthetic advantages, especially for extensive designs and finely branched bonsai. However, since the soft annealed copper wire hardens after being applied to the trunk or branch, it is often difficult to re-bend it and its use is therefore not recommended for beginners. Due to hardening, a second use is also not possible with copper wire. On the other hand, the design is somewhat more stable and the position of the wired branches shifts less quickly in the event of accidental contact.
