Raffia is a necessary tool when the branches of bonsai need to be strongly bent. The fibrous strands effectively hold the wood together and, in combination with the wire, allow extreme deformation. The soft and wide material of the braids is sufficiently long and can be easily and effectively processed. The raffia should be sufficiently watered before tying.
