Ryuga knob cutter - 20 cm, stainless steel

The knob cutter is a special tool for reworking cut wounds on the trunk or for removing unwanted wood. The spherical blade shape literally peels out the material, creating an indentation that can heal cleanly. This tool has also proven to be most effective when the woody base of the root of shallow-rooted species (such as fan maples) needs to be further removed or deepened. In addition, unlike a simple pair of cutters, the blades of a pair of knob cutters engage one over the other when closed. This is a special quality feature of this tool and it requires a lot of experience to manufacture. As a result, the cut of the cutter is comparable to that of a pair of scissors and correspondingly clean. In addition, the arrangement makes the blades sharper for longer and more durable overall. When choosing cutters, it is necessary to take into account the fact that half the length of the blade roughly dictates the maximum diameter of the branch to be cut. So, for example, if the blade has a length of 25 mm, the branch to be cut should not be thicker than 12 mm. Depending on the type of wood, however, there may be deviations here and, especially with the knob cutters, branches that are too hard or thick should not be cut. The wood material cannot escape here and the tensions in the blade can destroy the tool.
