This Photinia probably bears its German name because of its beautiful and intense orange-red autumn colouring. It grows like a shrub and is rather broad. The bee-friendly, white flowers appear in May to June and develop into small, bright red fruits by August, which adorn them until winter. It likes nutrient-rich soil and a sunny to semi-shady location.

Care as a bonsai: 
The Oriental Photinia is very decorative and pretty with its lush green leaves in summer and beautiful autumn colours. The flowers and fruit add variety to the look all year round. Shaping with the help of wire is only necessary for individual branches; the fast-growing Photinia branches out very quickly and quickly forms a beautiful crown thanks to constant pruning. This allows you to go in all directions beyond the solitary plant.
