Abeliophyllum distichum - White Forsythia
General:
The white forsythia is a dainty shrub from Korea with a stature height of up to 2 m. From March to May, many small, pale pink to white flowers with an intense smell of almonds develop on the angular shoots. The leaves are deciduous and ovate-oblong.
Care as a bonsai:
Like most shrubs, the white forsythia also forms several shoots close to the ground and less of one continuous stem. For bonsai cultivation, the excess shoots are therefore removed and the selected shoot is shaped by further cutting measures or wire. Due to its splendid flowering in spring, the white forsythia has a very special potential as a bonsai and the design work is definitely worth it. White forsythia should be bright and warm, but still protected and not too wet. In spring they are also particularly sensitive to late frosts.
