European oaks can grow up to 40 meters high and usually develop a mighty, broad, picturesque grain. The typical oak leaves are obovate, lobed, leathery and deep green in color. The leaf stalks are short, but the flowers and acorns sit on long stalks. European oak oaks develop a very coarse and deeply furrowed bark with age.
