Forsythia x intermedia ‘minigold‘ - Dwarf Forsythia 'Minigold'

General:
Forsythia are named in honor of the royal English garden director William Forsyth. The first plants came to Europe in 1833 and can now be found in many gardens due to their splendid spring bloom. The species Forsythia suspensa and Forsythia viridissima, which originate from western China, formed the basis for today's hybrids. Many varieties have emerged that are characterized by intensive flowering in April / May, unpretentiousness and frost resistance.

Care as a bonsai:
Forsythias can also be cultivated very well as bonsai. They are robust, hardy and drift very well. A strong pruning is also possible without any problems. The most beautiful thing about the plants is undoubtedly the intense, bright yellow bloom in spring before the leaves shoot. In addition, forsythia have a beautiful green-yellow to purple autumn color. The bark is also interesting because of its cork pustules and great roots form very quickly. Due to the vigor, the plant must be cut regularly. The plants also quickly form many fine roots and must be repotted regularly. Forsythia are very tolerant of the site conditions. However, they have to be watered extensively in summer.

Special features of the variety dwarf forsythia 'Minigold':
The ‘Minigold‘ variety has smaller leaves and grows a little weaker than the species. However, the flowers are just as splendid.
