Syzygium paniculatum - Brush Cherry
General:
The brush cherry grows in its homeland as a broad and densely branched tree with a height of up to 15 meters. The species is very vigorous and has evergreen, narrow and shiny leaves. The small, round flowers are white and have many thread-like stamens. The edible fruits are also small and pink to purple in color.
Care as a bonsai:
The brush cherry is very vigorous and easy to care for as a bonsai. A bright location as well as sufficient watering and fertilization will thank you with lush growth. The pruning is done regularly so that the bonsai does not grow out of shape. If the crown becomes too dense, individual branches are removed. In winter, the plant can also be cooler, but should still get plenty of light. As with most plants, waterlogging should of course be avoided.
