The Chinese city of Yixing has been famous for centuries for its high-quality pottery. There are unique clay deposits in the region, and talented craftsmen and artists have settled there. In addition to the coveted teapots, Yixing also produces bonsai pots of varying quality. Depending on the manufacturing process and temperature during the firing process, the pots later have different properties. Standard pots are made by the casting method and are not necessarily frost resistant due to lower kiln temperatures. For indoor bonsai or bonsai overwintered frost-free, they are nevertheless very suitable. Slight tolerances in shape and color are possible with standard pots. Quality pots are mostly handmade and fired at high temperatures. These pots are largely frost-resistant and vary only slightly in shape and color. Premium pots are also handmade, fired at high temperatures and are correspondingly frost resistant. Premium pots are elaborately reworked, which makes the shapes and contours very precise. The glazes are also often unique and give the pots a special character.
