Tanuki wood

This wood was collected from rivers where it was exposed to erosion by water over a long period of time. The flowing water carries away smaller and larger rocks and thus naturally grinds away the rough edges of the wood. In some cases, however, completely new forms and veritable works of art have been created in this way.
The natural forms of river wood look like the dead wood of very old trees in alpine locations or on other extreme sites. Here, decades of exposure to wind and rain as well as heat and cold have left similar traces.
For this reason, river wood is also very suitable for bonsai design. In the tanuki technique, the deadwood and the bonsai are joined together in such a way that over time they form a single unit and allow for particularly expressive designs.
In addition, river wood can also be planted very well directly with a bonsai or with perennials.
