Since all bonsai potss have drainage holes for excess water on the underside, it sometimes makes sense to use a undertray. This protects especially furniture and shelves in the apartment but also sensitive wooden shelves outdoors. In addition, the excess water evaporates and thus provides increased humidity on hot summer days or dry heating air.
