Plastic tray
As an alternative to the rectangular plastic pots from Japan, we use the round plastic pots from Germany for prebonsai. The pots have a lot of small holes in the bottom. This allows the excess water to drain down well from the soil substrate. If the soil is fine-grained, you should cover the holes with nets to prevent the soil from trickling out.
