Hydrangea serrata 'Koreana' - Mountain Hydrangea 'Koreana'
General:
This Mountain Hydrangea 'Koreana' is a winter-hardy ornamental shrub and is an insect-feeding shrub. The large and unusual flowers appear over a long period from June to September. They can range in colour from pink to bluish, depending on the nutrient content and pH value of the soil. It reaches a height of 50cm and can also be used as an underplanting in partial shade.
Care as a bonsai:
This Hydrangea is vigorous and compact in habit and can also be used as a companion plant between solitary plants. After pruning, it branches out and flowers profusely. However, if pruned continuously over several growing seasons, it also forms a beautiful, tree-like shape and makes a wonderful bonsai. It can be overwintered in its normal winter quarters, as it can also tolerate heavy frosts.
