Anemone nemorosa

Anemone nemorosa - Wood Anemone

General:
Wood anemone is a typical early bloomer in the forests of Central Europe. Even before the large deciduous trees unfold their leaves, it takes advantage of the first rays of sunlight and warmth to grow, flower and store energy in its underground rhizomes. As early summer progresses, the plant then fully retreats and outlasts its time in the ground, eventually resprouting the following spring. Incidentally, wood anemones are a character species of various beech and oak forests in terms of plant sociology.

Uses:
Because of its dense growth, finger-shaped leaves and pretty white flowers, wood anemone makes a great accent plant in spring. A typical herbaceous plant in oak and beech woodlands, it is a perfect side plant to showcase an oak or beech bonsai. Of course, it also enriches the plant collection with the first flowers of the year.
