Davallia bullata

Davallia bullata - Ball Fern

General:
The Ball Fern is native to China, Japan as well as tropical Asia. It often grows here as an epiphyte on trees or as a lithophyte on rocks. It prefers shady and humid places. Characteristic are the hairy rhizomes that appear at the edge of the plant and with which it slowly spreads. In the pot, the ball fern should be placed in partial shade and warm. Even in winter it prefers a warm and especially frost-free place. Thus, the fern can be kept as a houseplant all year round. Care should be taken to water it regularly, avoiding waterlogging at all costs.

Usage:
Due to its fine and filigree leaves and hairy runners, the ball fernis a very decorative side plant. In a taller ceramic bowl, the hairy root runners then quickly grow over the edge and together form a harmonious unit.
