Dryopteris affinis 'Crispa Congesta'

Dryopteris affinis 'Crispa Congesta' - Golden shield fern

General:
The golden shield fern grows upright to funnel-shaped and is only 20 to 30 cm tall and just as wide. The pinnate leaves are dark green and yellowish when emerging. The plant prefers a semi-shady location and a humusy, moist but not waterlogged substrate. The dwarf gold scale fern is frost hardy. The old leaves should be removed in spring before new shoots appear.

Use:
The golden shield fern can be planted in a ceramic bowl to present it as a kusamono or shitakusa. It is also very suitable as an additional planting in woodland or rock arrangements.
