Suiseki from Japan

Suiseki

The word Suiseki means water stone. These are stones found in nature that have not been altered in shape. They are polished and given a wooden base (daiza). They can also be displayed in a bed of gravel or sand on a tray. A distinction is made between stones that resemble a human or animal figure and those that represent mountain ranges, mountains or landscapes.
