Rocks are suitable for bonsai design in many forms. As landscape planting (Saikei), the stones can be elaborately arranged with bonsai and other plants. Larger stones can also be planted directly, replacing a bowl (Ishitsuki). In addition, there is also the popular rock form, where the roots of the bonsai grow over the stone (Seki-joju).
