In Japan, a bonsai is traditionally presented in a special niche in the house (tokonoma) on special occasions. The tree is usually placed on a matching wooden table. Bonsai can also be found on ornate tables at bonsai exhibitions. The bonsai table should form a unit with the tree and the pot.
